BDA Good Practice of The Year 2011

North East dental practice celebrates national award win

Staff at a North East dental practice are all smiles after being awarded the prestigious British Dental Association (BDA) Good Practice Scheme Practice of The Year 2011.

Osborne Dental, which has premises in Jesmond and Stanley, has been recognised by the BDA for its outstanding commitment to the Good Practice Scheme and will be listed on the historic BDA Annual Honours and Awards roll.

The practice has been invited to attend the BDA Honours and Awards evening in London next month and will receive an inscribed hand-crafted glass trophy by renowned North East artist Jane Charles.

More than 1600 Good Practice Scheme practices were eligible to enter this year’s award. The competition involved a rigorous assessment process, including a judge’s visit to the practice and a separate visit to conduct a patient survey.

The judging panel looked at key areas of the delivery of oral healthcare including demonstration of outstanding patient/community care, range of treatment options, teamwork, training opportunities for staff and corporate social responsibility.

The panel described Osborne Dental as “a very impressive team with extraordinary leadership which has used the BDA Good Practice Scheme to develop an outstanding patient centred service.”

The BDA Good Practice Scheme is a voluntary quality assurance programme for UK dental practices. By becoming members, practices demonstrate a visible commitment to providing quality dental care to nationally recognised standards.

The scheme is a trusted mark of quality for professionals and patients alike and it depends on the whole dental team complying with good practice standards.

Osborne Dental expanded last year to provide seven newly refurbished state of the art surgeries which include a Dental Implant Suite and Osborne Skin - a Facial Aesthetics suite.  

The practice is hosting an open evening later this month for dental colleagues, patients and friends, to celebrate their win and to showcase their award winning practice facilities.
